With the summer (sadly) here for another five weeks, our team at Hallman Orthodontics would like to take this time to remind our young athletes wearing braces to take care of both your mouth and appliances while participating in contact sports (and non-contact sports) this month. After all, we know this is a busy time of year sports-wise, whether you're playing baseball in the park across the street or getting ready for a season of high school football.Remember, only by using a mouth guard can kids with and without braces avoid serious sports injuries. So, the next time you're in for a visit with Dr. Linda Hallman, we encourage you to ask us for a mouth guard, and we will provide one!
We hope you've had a GREAT summer! Don't forget about our patient contests! See you soon.

Mouthguards are of three types: Stock mouth Protectors, Boil and Bite Mouth Protectors and Custom made Mouth Protectors. Stock mouth protectors are ready to wear mouthguards that are inexpensive and can be purchased from any sports shop or any big departmental stores. However, these mouthguards are quite bulky and makes breathing and talking very difficult. Boil and bite mouth protectors also can be purchased from any leading sports store. Made from thermoplastic material, these mouthguards offer a better fit than stock mouth protectors. This kind of mouthguard is used by placing it in hot water to soften and then placed in the mouth and shaped around your teeth by applying finger and tongue pressure. Custom fitted mouthguards are exclusively designed and created on an individual basis by a professional dental laboratory. Made up of a special material, this custom made mouthguards offers the perfect fit as well as comfort for the user.
